Adventures in Data

Illustrations for an animation promoting a powerful analytics tool, explained on a colourful journey through a world of data.

TopLine Film approached me to help them create a striking animation that explained the product of their client, an analytics company working with AI and machine learning to help businesses work smarter. I was tasked with crafting a visual style for the animation, as well as creating the narrative, building out storyboards and finally working up illustrations for a number of key frames that would then be used by TopLine Film to produce the animation itself. This was a super fun project, and quite different from the type of project I usually work on.

I created a narrative where data forms the very world which our characters inhabit, expressed as elements of data visualization that are traversed as we explore what the product can do. Through this approach, we learn about the product as our characters make sense of the world around them in an immersive and playful way.
